Not to defend what Israel’s doing in and with Gaza, something that’s bothering me is the idea or acting as if pretty much everything started immediately before 10/7. Essentially, it actually started with Britain’s shit show failure to prepare the Palestine colony/imminent Jewish homeland ca. 1947 — a failure like they did shortly before “granting” India independence which triggered the partition of the nation. Back n the Palestine colony, the Brits did everything wrong.
So, you know, it’s fucking complicated.
*That* said, the only solution is two states. Obviously, hard to get there, what with Netanyahu’s actions to make sure Israel doesn’t have an acceptable negotiating partner — that is, some entity that speaks for and has the support of a majority of Palestinians, something Hamas never had.
The call from Simple Shmerel to NOT attend Tuesday’s demonstration at the National Mall becomes even more poignant in retrospect, knowing that to attend that event was to become linked with John Hagee by association.
