I snapped up a Midnight Special Soul dvd collection a few months back and it was solid entertainment. I'm sure that much if not all is on YouTube in I imagine comparatively good image quality.
Absolutely LOVED The Midnight Special. The episode that really left a mark on me was hosted by The Cars, during which Suicide was introduced to middle American households throughout the land. I grew up in the cultural wasteland of Florida, never really exposed to all that much of anything that wasn't found whilst scanning my local AOR options. Suicide blew my mind, and I still harbor an immense amount of love and respect for that band. Also on that program - The Records. Yeah, that was a good one.
I saw the David Bowie show the night it aired. I was 13. My father was in the room when Bowie started but he soon stomped off, muttering about three dollar bills.
Bobby Lee has shared this 4-hour (!) playlist of "kosmiche country." Lotsa discoveries for me here. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/66C8RNLtgYhUG6lW0RhLle

Wow. I would very much like to see that episode. Gotta lobby them to upload it instead of another Loggins & Messina show or whatever.
Thanks for this! Didn’t know these were on YouTube

Ha! I suspect that that Bowie performance was The Final Straw for many parents. Also, the Alice Cooper one, good gawd.
