“LANDLINE”

No. 0039

Tuesday, August 30, 2022

Hello friends,

Maybe it’s the monsoon, maybe it’s long Covid, maybe it’s causeless blues, maybe it’s just been a quiet time. In any event, I haven’t had anything to write lately that felt absolutely necessary to pass along to you all. But I do have hundreds of images/links sitting on the personal confuser as prompts for future writing. So, here’s ten. May they lead you somewhere positive or inspiring.

John Hargrave, Head Man of the Kibbo Kift,1927.
Funkadelic, 1970. Source unknown
Impossible to explain, but they tried.
Pierre Sandwidi,underheard genius.
STP, 1990.
Panel from “Realm of Karma Comix" (1971) by Barbara “Willy” Mendes, via The Comics Journal.
Barbara “Willy” Mendes with her radiant artwork at her self-owned gallery in Los Angeles.
Seed 07, Patrick J. Ditko (1997)
Bumper sticker by Plastic Crimewave for Jeffrey Alexander/Dire Wolves.

More soon,

Jay

Tucson, Arizona

Landline reader who knows stuff writes: "the Funkadelic pic is from Soldier Field in Chicago, July 18th 1970. the Stooges and MC5 both also played. seems like it was a good day."
